About Us

What does it mean to have an attorney you can trust?

What does it mean to have a dedicated, responsive team of advocates on your side? Think about the difference it will make in your life and the lives of your children to have an attorney who listens, responds to your phone calls in a timely manner and advocates zealously for your rights.  I understand that if you are shopping for a matrimonial or family law attorney, you are likely stressed, anxious, sleepless and perhaps on edge.  You may be experiencing the most stressful period of your life.

Rest assured, I will do everything from the moment we first connect until the conclusion of your case to make this process manageable.  I will listen carefully to your unique concerns and answer all your questions. I will work with you to formulate a winning strategy to accomplish your goals. I understand that you are suffering because I have been in your shoes.  This is what makes me the best person to represent you in your divorce, custody, maintenance or child support matter.  Do you have a child in trouble at school or engaging in disturbing or criminal behavior? I can help.

After falling in love, getting married and having a child, I thought that I would begin living a white picket fence life. Unfortunately, I was shocked to discover that the man I married was not who I believed him to be.  Things reached a critical point and it was unsafe for us to be in the home.  Through the wise counsel of a dear friend, I went to family court, where I filed a family offense and emergency custody petition.

Thereafter, I retained an attorney at a large reputable firm. Although she was highly recommended, after many months of litigation, I left feeling frustrated by the lack of communication or information offered by my lawyer. To make matters worse, I received an enormous bill in the mail, on top of the huge retainer, (which was infuriating because I could not get a phone call returned). At that moment, I had a clear realization that I had to devote my life to counseling and advocating for parents, children, and families.

We appreciate how difficult it is to make a decision to finally leave an unhealthy marriage or relationship.  We also understand that this emotionally wrenching step is further compounded by years of relinquishing power to the abuser, (typically the moneyed spouse). We understand that you may have been living in an environment where you had no access to marital bank accounts, checking accounts or credit cards. We understand that you may feel powerless to pursue a divorce or custody action because you cannot access these resources.  Rest assured that we have a solution.

We will leverage all of our resources in the community to give you the highest quality of professionalism and expertise, to ensure you are safe, secure and are able survive and thrive during this transition.  We will sit down and strategize with you, and with your input we will proceed in the most effective and efficient manner to accomplish your goals.

We are acutely aware of the difficulties that occur when you have children and are in an abusive relationship.  It can feel impossible to leave. It may be embarrassing.  Perhaps you live in an affluent community and you do not want anyone to know about your experience.  We understand, we believe in you, and we are here to help.

I began my career in family law at Albany Law School, where I completed training in domestic violence, and represented clients in family court under a student practice order. I have trained at one of the top law schools in the region in order to advocate for you and your family. But most importantly, I have not lost the ability to listen. I believe in careful client communication in order to formulate a plan to get you the necessary relief. Often, clients are angry and afraid or hurt when they come to me. I want to listen until we come to a real solution, based upon your unique set of circumstances. Then, I will assess the best legal strategy to accomplish this result. I will complete the work involved with your particular project in a timely manner and give you a fair and accurate appraisal of the price before I take a retainer. I will provide a detailed monthly billing statement. I will work tirelessly for you and your family.  I will respond promptly when you contact me.  If I am unable to respond because I am in court I will message you with the next available time to talk.  Divorce and children’s law issues have been my passion for the past ten years because I have been in your shoes. I will never offer judgment, but I may make suggestions or advise on related issues in order to help you achieve your goals.
